Eatonville

Orange County, Florida

Incorporated August 15, 1887 — the oldest incorporated Black municipality in the United States. Hometown of novelist and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston, who immortalized it in Their Eyes Were Watching God and chronicled its folk life in Mules and Men.
