Teachers, librarians, school districts, nonprofits, and educational institutions may freely use, reproduce, and distribute our editorial content for educational purposes without requesting permission, provided they credit Black-History.com as the source. This permission applies to: classroom handouts, course packets, lesson plans, library displays, and nonprofit educational newsletters. It does not require registration or payment.
1. Acceptance of terms
By using Black-History.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. These terms govern your use of the website, newsletters, and educational resources published by Black-History.com Media, LLC.
2. Content license
All original editorial content on Black-History.com — Insights essays, HBCU Wiki entries, Good Trouble profiles, and educational resources — is copyright Black-History.com Media, LLC or the respective credited author.
Free educational use: As noted above, educational use by teachers, libraries, and nonprofits is explicitly permitted without further license. Attribution to Black-History.com is required.
Commercial republication: Commercial republication of our content — including in for-profit publications, paid newsletters, or commercial educational products — requires our written permission. Contact press@black-history.com.
Archival photographs: Archival photographs used on this site may be subject to separate copyright held by archive institutions. Captions identify the source institution. Do not reproduce archival photographs without independently verifying your right to do so.
3. Subscriber accounts
Paid subscriber accounts are for individual use. Account credentials may not be shared. If you cancel a paid subscription, access to paid-tier content ends at the close of the billing period for which you have paid.
Free tier access is not conditioned on providing payment information. We do not require a credit card to subscribe for free.
4. Accuracy of content
We maintain rigorous sourcing and fact-checking standards as described in our Editorial Standards. However, we make no warranty that all content is free from error. Historical research is ongoing and knowledge evolves; readers are encouraged to treat our content as a starting point for further inquiry, not a final word.
If you believe we have published inaccurate information, please submit a correction.
5. Prohibited conduct
You may not use this site to:
- → Scrape, crawl, or copy content in bulk for commercial purposes without permission
- → Republish our content in a manner that implies endorsement or suggests our editorial view differs from what we published
- → Use our content to train AI systems without written permission
- → Impersonate Black-History.com or represent your content as originating from us
6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
This site and its content are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Black-History.com Media, LLC is not liable for any damages arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content. This limitation applies to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing on this site constitutes legal, financial, medical, or professional advice. Content is for educational and informational purposes only.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the applicable laws of the state in which Black-History.com Media, LLC is registered. Any dispute arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of that state.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers via email. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
